Grief Medicine

Being in community, either in a group such as the Grief Medicine 8-Week Virtual Course or in ritual space, is a powerful way to deepen self-awareness and create authentic connection with others. Sometimes we feel totally alone in our struggle only to find that so many others in the circle feel the same way, too. People in our lives often serve as mirrors, reflecting  to us the myriad facets of ourselves. In a group therapy setting or ritual space, we learn to embrace the radiant parts, as well as the more difficult parts of ourselves, using the power of the collective to heal more quickly than doing so alone. Curious to learn more? This New York Times article portrays one individual’s experience of the power of group therapy.

Through ritual, song, and connection, Amy and Phoenix showed us that we are not alone in our grief, that it is okay to be with our experience however we may need to. What a special day.” ~Grief Medicine Participant, 2022

“For me, this experience was healing. It was important to have a space to grieve in a way that felt gentle, like I was held through the process.”  ~ Grief Medicine Participant, 2018

“This is sacred space we all entered into, and is really how the outside world should be.” ~ Grief Medicine Participant, 2019

“This experience was different in a good way. I’m so used to expressing myself through words so it was interesting using sound, movement, and art.” ~ Grief Medicine Participant, 2018
